Private Wellness Suite

Beginning with the most personal wing of the house

The transformation of this residence began not with the public spaces, but with its most private rooms. Before redesigning the rest of the home, the clients chose to create a dedicated suite centred on rest, wellbeing and daily rituals. More than a bedroom, it became a personal retreat where sleeping, exercising, dressing and wellness seamlessly come together.

The existing layout required a complete rethink. A former children’s bedroom was converted into a fitness room, while a redundant storage space beneath the staircase became a compact sauna. Within a relatively modest footprint, the design had to accommodate a bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, gym, wellness area and ensuite bathroom without compromising openness or comfort.

Rather than seeing the limited ceiling height as a constraint, it became an opportunity to integrate technology with exceptional precision. Ultra-compact speakers and nano spotlights were carefully incorporated into the architecture, allowing lighting, acoustics and climate control to remain almost invisible. Throughout the suite, these subtle interventions create an intimate atmosphere, gently highlighting materials, artwork and architectural details without drawing attention to themselves.

Carefully considered sightlines strengthen the sense of space. From the fitness area, views extend towards the bathroom and wellness spaces, while diagonal connections between the sauna, gym and dressing room create openness without sacrificing privacy. Every transition feels natural, encouraging a calm flow through the suite.

Materiality reinforces this sense of refinement. Precisely detailed marble, rounded timber elements and finely executed shadow gaps introduce warmth and softness to the architecture, while large linen-clad wardrobe panels add texture and tactility. The craftsmanship recalls the precision of luxury yacht interiors, where every millimetre is considered.

Although modest in scale, this suite established the design language for the entire residence. It demonstrates how thoughtful planning, craftsmanship and discreet technology can transform everyday routines into moments of comfort, calm and quiet luxury.
