A BOUTIQUE STUDIO FOR HIGHLY PERSONAL RESIDENCES
Kolenik is an Amsterdam-based interior design studio creating refined, deeply personal homes in the Netherlands and internationally. Founded by Robert Kolenik in 2005, the studio is known for interiors that feel calm, warm and effortless. Every project begins with the people who will live there — their routines, tastes, ambitions and the way they want their home to feel.
DESIGNED AROUND THE INDIVIDUAL
No two Kolenik homes are alike. What connects them is a sense of balance: considered proportions, tactile materials, bespoke detailing and a confident yet restrained use of colour and form. We design spaces to be lived in, not simply looked at. Comfort, atmosphere and character are considered from the first sketch to the final detail, creating interiors that feel personal from day one and continue to feel relevant over time.
FROM DESIGN TO REALISATION
Kolenik Design leads the creative direction, interior architecture, material selection and bespoke detailing of each project. Through Kolenik Projects, we can also coordinate specialist engineering, procurement and realisation, carrying the original design intent through to completion. For our clients, this creates one coherent process in which creative ambition, technical feasibility and execution are considered together.
A BROADER VIEW OF HOME
Over more than two decades, our perspective on residential design has continued to expand. Beauty remains the starting point. Increasingly, we also consider qualities that are felt rather than seen: acoustics, air and water quality, light, climate, sleep, intuitive technology, privacy and resilience. Responsible choices around materials and energy are part of the same thinking. How far this perspective becomes part of a project is entirely individual. In one home, it may mean exceptional acoustic comfort, carefully considered lighting and better water quality. In another, it may extend to integrated wellness, energy resilience or advanced home systems. The interior always leads. Technology remains quietly in the background.
VILLA K — OUR LIVING LAB
Our own family home and studio, Villa K in Vinkeveen, gives us the opportunity to live with these ideas ourselves. As our Living Lab, it allows us to explore materials, technologies and new ways of living over time — and to understand what genuinely improves everyday life before bringing that knowledge into our client projects.
A CLOSE-KNIT STUDIO
Kolenik remains intentionally boutique. Our team brings together interior architecture, design, project management and visualisation, keeping personal involvement and senior attention close to every project. Around that core sits a trusted international network of craftspeople, makers and technical specialists who allow us to realise highly individual homes at the highest level. Meet the team:
-

Robert Kolenik
Founder & Creative Director
Robert Kolenik’s work is driven by a fascination with how a home can shape everyday life. What began with an early interest in responsible design has developed over more than two decades into a broader perspective on comfort, wellbeing, technology and resilience. That curiosity sits underneath the work, while beauty remains the starting point: balanced proportions, tactile materials, bespoke details and the calm, recognisable atmosphere that has come to define Kolenik interiors.

Giulia Michelli
Interior Architect
Giulia studied in Udine, home to many Italian furniture design companies. A stint in residential architecture inspired the Italian architect to depart from her small mountain hometown to the Dutch flatland. Luckily, she did pack her knack for spatial composition and material explorations.

Leanna van Es
Project manager
Our design-loving office and project manager,Leanna is praised for her profound understanding of the design process. Her interior design background, years of experience working at Dutch design company Pastoe, and strong social skills make her a valued member of our team.

Meggy van Rees
Interior designer
During her interior design studies, darker colours and stronger contrasts appealed most to fashionista Maggy. ‘My understanding of luxury has evolved since then. Luxury is much more subtle; less is often more. And, working with a neutral colour palette makes details matter even more.’ -

Sanne Ubbink

With a background in environmental psychology and sustainable interior design, Sanne creates spaces that reflect personality and values. Her style embodies quiet luxury, blending natural materials with modern influences to deliver timeless designs that inspire and endure.
