House of Stillness
A spacious forever home, designed to feel intimate at every scale.
A generous home where architecture, intimacy and material depth quietly come together.
Designed in close collaboration with the architect, House of Stillness was created for an entrepreneurial couple building their forever home on the very ground where they had lived for many years. Their former house made way for a new villa; one that embraces space, comfort and future-proof living without losing the feeling of home.
From the start, Kolenik was involved to shape the interior architecture and translate the scale of the building into a warm, tactile living experience. The challenge was to make large volumes feel calm and inviting. Acoustic comfort played a key role, with a refined slatted ceiling softening the spatial openness, while the material palette brings continuity from one room to the next.
Throughout the house, each space has its own character, yet belongs to the same architectural flow. The basement unfolds as a private world of wellness, fitness, cinema and bar, connected to the upper floors by both lift and a sculptural staircase. Guest rooms offer privacy, while the master suite on the ground floor opens directly to the garden, allowing the home to adapt gracefully to future needs.
At the heart of the villa, the living room, ensuite, kitchen and dining area are connected by a hand-carved travertine fireplace. Solid and elemental, it divides the spaces while bringing them together; creating a warm centre where fire, texture and architecture meet.
